DECC announce lower “strike prices” for large scale solar
Posted on
DECC surprised the industry with an early announcement on the CfD strike prices, the prices that projects will contract with the Government for once the new Contracts for Differences system is implemented. The long term price for large scale solar has been reduced to £120/MWh, eventually falling to £100/MWh, reflecting the continuing fall in the delivered cost of solar power. Early in the day there was some negative spin by the BBC suggesting that current tariffs had been cut, but DECC have confirmed that there are no planned changes to either Feed-In Tariffs or the Renewables Obligation, under which projects are currently being developed.
